As a qualified lawyer and heritage expert, Jennifer aims to bring a sense of pragmatism to projects. She has provided consultancy services to Local Planning Authorities and is familiar with the conflicting priorities and the demand for quality design a project may involve. She has advised on a wide range of heritage projects, from tall buildings to the extension and refurbishment of a number of high value residences and the development of heritage assets for residential and commercial use. Jennifer also works with a number of the national housebuilders on large mixed-use schemes not only in London and the South East but nationally.
In Essex, Jennifer has worked on the re-development (and associated enabling works) of large heritage assets in Brentwood and Chigwell as well as new build residential schemes in Colchester, Thaxted and Great Dunmow. Jennifer frequently collaborates with multidisciplinary consultant teams involving architects, local planning authority conservation officers, specialist consultants and statutory consultees (including Historic England). These range from early feasibility discussions to guide the development of a masterplan to ongoing review of proposals throughout the design process to help ensure that the final scheme is robust, credible, and deliverable. She has specific experience working in Uttlesford both in terms of site promotion and through application to appeal.
With a background as a commercial lawyer, further trained to specialise in the historic environment, Jennifer understands the need to balance heritage sensitivities with wider planning and financial considerations.
