Dominic Fitzsimmons


Dominic has over 15 years of professional experience of delivering high profile landscape and public realm schemes within London and the southeast of England. He has worked in both private and public sector, on projects at many different scales and within different contexts. He currently works within the public sector across Essex County Council.

 

Leading schemes through planning for a wide range of sectors including residential, public realm, education and sports, Dominic is adept at several scales and work stages. He has a special interest in mitigating embodied carbon within landscape design specification, and co-authored the Climate Emergency Design Guidance (2024) as part of the LLDC’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Design Guide update. Dominic also has excellent experience of de-engineering public highways to transform them in pedestrian priority areas, alongside retrofitting SuDS into the public realm. Dominic is passionate about inclusive design, and design for all ages, specifically playable landscapes.

 

Achieving a BA (Hons) and Masters of Landscape Architecture at The University of Sheffield, Dominic has been a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute since 2013. He has mentored many candidates through the Pathway to Chartership and now monitors exams for the Landscape Institute. He has guest tutored at the University of East London.
