Kate is skilled in approaches to landscape character assessment and its application. She contributed to the draft of the national landscape character assessment approach for Natural England, Scottish Natural Heritage and Countryside Council for Wales. She has also led training on the techniques of Character Assessment and Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment on behalf of Natural England and the Landscape Institute.

Kate has worked for numerous clients in developing landscape evidence and policies, including Guidelines on the Implementation of the European Landscape Convention on behalf of Natural England. Kate has been a Director in charge of contracts for Natural England and National Trust to review impacts of infrastructure developments on designated landscapes, including on and offshore energy projects, large scale solar development, grid connections and road and rail schemes. She is experienced at giving landscape evidence at inquiries and examinations.
