Mike Jamieson

Mike Jamieson is a practising architect living in Essex and working in London, with over 20 years’ experience across a range of sectors including residential, commercial and healthcare. As Design Director at TateHindle, a 60-strong practice, Mike leads the Design Group and internal design review process, working with teams to create innovative and sustainable buildings that respond to and enhance their surroundings. A champion of good design and its ability to enrich lives, Mike has particular expertise in masterplanning and the design and delivery of housing projects, workplaces and mixed-use developments. This includes refurbishments and new builds, ranging in project value from £5m-100m.

Mike is currently leading teams working on several award-winning developments in Essex, Cambridge and London. In Chelmsford, Mike is working with Countryside Zest (Countryside and L&Q) to design and deliver 321 new homes at Beaulieu. This follows success in jointly winning the commission for the masterplan to deliver 3,600 homes on 580 acres of farmland.

In Cambridge Mike is working with Countryside and BPHA to design and deliver 650+ new homes at Aura, Great Kneighton – a development which forms a major new urban extension of 2,300 dwellings on the southern fringes of Cambridge. The scheme has won several awards, most recently being commended by the Civic Trust Awards.

Living in Saffron Walden, Mike is familiar with the pressures new development can bring to historic settings and their communities. Considering these social, economic and environmental impacts, Mike strives to create responsive architecture that aims to improve people's lives through a mix of analysis, innovation and collaboration.

Mike is Chair of the RIBA East London Architects group and member of the RIBA London Regional Council, Chair of the RIBA Awards West London jury and corresponding member of the RIBA Housing Group, and a Civic Trust Awards Assessor.
