Alice Brownfield


Alice Brownfield is an architect and Director at Peter Barber Architects - a practice renowned for a number of ground-breaking, high density, street based  social housing and homelessness projects (and winner of the 2021 RIBA Neave Brown Award for Housing).   Alice is passionate about inclusive and equitable urban design and, outside of practice, is Chair of Part W (an action group campaigning for gender equity across the built environment) and a trustee for the charity Action on Empty Homes.  Alice is the recipient of the 2021 MJ Long Prize for Excellence in Practice in recognition of her work delivering high quality social housing projects across outer London boroughs and on existing estates, as well as her wider advocacy work.  She is also is a visiting critic and lecturer at a number of UK schools of architecture and a member of the London Borough of Havering Quality Review Panel.

 

Alice grew up in Chelmsford and has a strong affinity for, and familiarity with, the many varied characters and conditions across Essex.  She is passionate about ensuring a high quality, sustainable and inclusive built environment for those who live and work in the county.
